[00:01] Welcome to the Prosperity Podcast. Prosperity thinkers, today we are going to have a special episode, a sort of compilation if you will of Kim’s wisdom and knowledge across all the time that we’ve been doing this podcast. Some ideas you’ve heard, some ideas you haven’t. But they all have meaning and value in understanding what is really prosperity. So Kim, take it away. Well, I think it is important to start this conversation with a definition with stating what is the meaning or the many meanings, if you will, of the word prosperity. Because, as you know, I want to be very clear with words that we use. Anything that’s important to you in your life is affected by money, how you spend your time, the relationship that you have with your family members, whether you’re

[00:50] able to travel to see kids and grandkids, whether you can take some time off to rejuvenate and on. Prosperity from a financial, monetary, material standpoint affects everything in our life that’s important. And prosperity can also mean how we choose to spend all of those things, how we choose to spend our time, our attention, our money on things. So I love the definition of prosperity because it does include the verb aspect of it, like how we choose to spend things. It includes the noun aspect of it as literal prosperity. And it also has a very spiritual element. One of the things that I work with our clients all the time is to simplify their savings because savings is something that we need to be doing all the time, and if we make

[01:53] it simple, then we’ll do it. Automate our assets so that we get our wealth building on an automating orientation. And then install faith in our finances and faith in both senses of the word here. So we’ve got all these words that have double meaning, right? So I said prosperity has a spiritual lens. Faith has a spiritual lens also, and that is truly that we have a faith beyond our human monetary understanding of how the world, faith also has a very concrete definition that’s not spiritual at all. And that is that we truly have confidence in our money, in our ability to earn money, the ability for our money to grow and stay safe and be protected and not rollercoaster ride or fall out of our hands or into disrepair, if you will, or lose.

[02:51] And here I use the word lens with a double meaning also. It is really important to approach prosperity as that, as a new perspective of life, of living. And as we know, we can pick up a camera lens, we can put it back down, we can pick up binoculars, put it back down. And so lens implies that we can adopt it even sometimes when we don’t feel it ourselves. And so we can apply a prosperity lens to things sometimes in an effort to get our own perspective to shift or even upgrade, pay attention to the lens with which you’re accepting that information. And a prosperity lens says this information could be bad or good. What can I learn from it? Where is the opportunity? How could I benefit from it?

[03:49] How could others benefit from it? Where is the good that is going on? Any of those questions let you have a prosperity lens about information into information as opposed to a fearful or scarcity oriented lens. And this is not having a rose colored glass or glasses on your eyes where, oh, everything’s fine. This is I’m going to dig and find some good here and work to get the learning out of it or get the opportunities out of it or let it go. And I think that’s a completely legitimate response as well. Todd just shared some information with me this morning about something that’s going on in our world. So clearly not something that impacts my daily life. And it really got to me mentally for 20 minutes or so, which is a little

[04:43] longer than I normally allow. And then I put my foot down to myself and said, okay, you’ve had your, your time with it, let it go. And I normally recommend only about five minutes because truly, if there’s nothing that you can do about it, then five minutes is enough. You know, maybe it’s 60 seconds, go outside and do some jumping jacks and call it a day, call it good, right? Cross it off the list. Of course, this requires concentration and also being in the right mindset to be able to do it. It is a daily practice of turning your mind into seeing the opportunities that are naturally in the world. So another famous quote from Dan Sullivan, one of my mentors is your eyes will see and your ears will hear only what your brain is looking for.

[05:40] Well, our human brains, brain science data is proving these days only have space for about four to seven things. So if you’re constantly thinking about debt, debt, debt, I got to get out of debt, what are you going to get more of if you’re constantly thinking about emergencies, I got to fund my emergency fund, I got to make a bigger emergency fund, what are you going to get more of? And if you’re dedicated every single month at whatever level of the game is appropriate for you, 10 bucks or 10 million bucks. And yes, I mean, per month building an opportunity fund is going to drive your ears to hear and your eyes to see opportunities. And if you’re not doing it, they will not, cannot find them.

[06:32] So to wrap this episode, because I think I’ve been speaking a lot, it all boils down to the mindset we put ourselves and how we chose to spend our time, our money, our resources. Do we chose to be mindful or not? Do we chose ourself or not? Reinvest in the businesses that we have and help them grow because we know that the business environment is the one place that is our best investment. And so if you have a business, you could follow that lead. If you don’t, you are your best investment. And so investing in yourself and upgrading your skills and adding additional capabilities or capacities to either yourself or a business will enable you to overcome what is essentially governmental inflation, which

[07:27] is them spending this money, printing this money and causing the value of the dollar to go down. If the government is spending a ton of money, what I can do is I can educate my friends and family that are nearest to me about what’s happened in the past and what may happen in the future. Ah, and picking up on the education idea, I think it is so fabulous when you can move knowledge to the next generation and possibly even the next generation, depending on where you are in life. And this is an interesting thing to think about because as we know, especially when we’re talking to the next generation, like me to my adult children, as an example, we can’t just spout off things and expect them to open their little brains and dump the information in.

[08:21] We have to really think carefully about what questions might we ask to help them get the education without us shoving it down their throats, because we know that if we shove it down their throats, they won’t accept it. And so developing some questions to ask that will spur the discussion, cause the self seeking and self education to occur is a super valuable skill. There are amazing ideas and something like five million minds that are coming online in the next few years as the literal entire population of the world gets on the Internet. So use it as a force for good, figure out the learnings, say no to that which does not serve you, say yes to that which stretches you, causes growth and enables you to keep contributing.

[09:21] Very well said. That was so good. And thank you, Kim, for really getting into the definition of prosperity, what we can use and do in our daily routines to be mindful and be present and to always bettering ourselves.
