[00:01] Welcome to the Prosperity Podcast. Prosperity thinkers, welcome to the podcast. Today, we’re talking about prosperity. Kim, you’re going to set us out and we’re going to hear what your definition, your vision of that is, and we’re going to dive into some incredible topics. I love it. We should do a podcast on thinkers also. Yes, I would love to. I’ll take a note of that. That’s our brand, Prosperity Thinkers, and both words chosen so, so carefully. And I’m so grateful for them. So I think prosperity is one of the coolest words out there because it can mean so much more than material and financial wealth, and of course, that’s maybe the first definition that we might think of, and as we should,

[00:56] because while money is not everything in your life, money affects everything in your life. Anything that’s important to you in your life is affected by money. How you spend your time, the relationship that you have with your family members, whether you’re able to travel to see kids and grandkids, whether you can take some time off to rejuvenate and on prosperity from a financial, monetary, material standpoint affects everything in our life that’s important. And prosperity can also mean how we choose to spend all of those things, how we choose to spend our time, our attention, our money on things. So I love the definition of prosperity because it does include the verb aspect of it, like how we choose to spend things, it includes the noun aspect

[01:59] of it as literal prosperity, and it also has a very spiritual element. And one of the things that I work with our clients all the time is to simplify their savings because savings is something that we need to be doing all the time, and if we make it simple, then we’ll do it, automate our assets so that we get our wealth building on an automating orientation, and then install faith in our finances and faith in both senses of the word here. So we’ve got all these words that have double meaning, right? So I said, prosperity has a spiritual lens. Faith has a spiritual lens also. And that is truly that we have a faith beyond our human monetary understanding of how the world, faith also has a very concrete definition

[02:54] that’s not spiritual at all. And that is that we truly have confidence in our money, in our ability to earn money, in the ability for our money to grow and stay safe and be protected and not roller coaster ride or fall out of our hands or into disrepair, if you will, or lose. And so again, simplify your savings, automate your assets, install faith in your finances. When we have a prosperity lens, we can do this easier because prosperity also starts in our minds. And I’m so thankful that here we are in 2022 recording this and mindset is like a cool thing to talk about. Whereas even five or 10 years ago, it was a little under the rug, a little kind of weird if you brought it up, but now entrepreneurs all

[03:50] across this globe know how important mindset is and we want to teach that to our children and so a prosperity mindset is very different than a fearful mindset. As an example, a prosperity mindset is about owning and controlling things. And I don’t mean that literally, although clearly a lot of people are entrepreneurs that listen to this podcast, but owning and controlling our own thought is where we want to start and you can teach that to two year olds all the way up. In fact, I just heard a great example the other day, Teresa, my absolutely unbelievable assistant, so grateful for her. Uh, there was somebody in her family that was over and they were saying like, Oh, I just feel really positive today because I feel like I have a

[04:44] good mindset and maybe that’s nothing, but it seems important to me. And Teresa’s it’s everything. Of course your mindset matters and mindset is a choice. One that we get to make every day, every hour, sometimes even every minute. And so when you adopt a prosperity lens through which you look at things, it enables you to have a prosperity mindset. And when you have a prosperity mindset, you can make better decisions because decisions made in fear are never usually very good. And when we have a prosperity mindset and we get to make decisions from a prosperity standpoint, we’re going to see more opportunities because we’re more open-minded to them. Just goes, I could just go on and on and on and they all impact each other.

[05:30] And it’s why I love the word prosperity because it does impact absolutely everything in our lives. Oh, it absolutely does. Your positive nature and your prosperity mindset is one of those things. It’s contagious to us as listeners. So first we want to start with gratitude and it’s not something that was necessarily given to you at level 100 and you ran out the gates. No, don’t get me wrong. There are some people by nature that tend to be a little bit more positive for grateful or prosperous in their thinking, and then there are others that need to work on it more. And we’ve seen both. So let’s roll back to Kim. When you first started to learn of the prosperity mindset, how old were you when you started to grasp this?

[06:22] That’s a really good question. And like so many things in life, I don’t know that I can pinpoint it specifically. My parents were positive people for the most part. They were definitely spiritual people. So I had a good foundation in that element of learning as I grew up. We had animals all the time, like chickens and ducks and cows and sheep and pigs and goats. And I think that probably dogs too, of course, contributes to prosperity approach. We had a farm with a ton of work on it. You can’t really get through life. If you’re going to have all those things to work on and not have a prosperity approach to it. And then I played sports. So I had all of that going on in addition. And I think when you are busy and you’re physically active.

[07:12] And of course I was in school, so I was very mentally active. And I had parents that were teachers. So reading and that kind of thing was a very important aspect of our daily lives and very little TV. And all of those things contributed all along the way to that prosperity lens. What’s interesting though, as we all know, is at some point as an adult, you have to make it yourself. You have to make it your own. You have to decide for yourself that this is the way I’m going to be. And it re it’s, it requires constant work. It takes constant effort to be there. And there are examples that I could share literally every day where I find myself not using a prosperity economic approach or a prosperity lens to something.

[08:06] And I just gotten better at catching myself. That’s really the progress. It’s not that I don’t fall into fearful thinking or scarcity mode or what have you, but I catch myself quickly and I know what to do about it. And it enables me to literally clear that hurdle quicker and quicker as I have progressed in my lives day by day. Okay. I would love to actually pepper a few questions in here. Cause when you catch yourself in that, and I’m not, and just to be very clear, we’re not going to set up a comparison thing because, you know, where Kim may be is different than where you are right now. And, and that’s okay because it’s a journey every single day. So when you do catch yourself, you’ll take some actions to then replace

[08:59] and become higher level of prosperity again. What are you doing at that point? What types of things are you doing? He mean like physically doing for the catching part or what happens after that? Actually, both are pretty important because we can’t really change until we recognize. And then once we recognize, we have to change. So I think the catching part is just being aware and it’s literally being aware of my thought, being aware of how my body feels. Always cracks me up. You go, when we used to go into offices, you go in and somebody is like hanging out in their seat and their shoulders are slumped and they’re back here. How can you get good results when that is your physical state of being?

[09:39] And so somebody that’s forward and their shoulders are up and their other head is up and their brain is on because their head is up. I think that is something that we really need to pay attention to. And so if something happens that would cause me to get into scarcity mode or that I am just in a bad mood about, I will change my physical state. I will literally go outside and do jumping jacks. I will go pet Emma dog. I will go to something to change that physical state. And then I will make sure that I’m giving because I find that if I’m struggling with something, if I will get on the phone, send an email, do anything to give that it will shift that state and combined with the physical shift of state, that mental shift of, Oh no, turned into

[10:32] how can I give, who can I help will enable me to then come back and solve whatever the problem is that was causing the bad mood to begin with. Ooh, I love it. I love it. So I do the same thing. I think on the physical side, so I can almost feel it. If I’m not thinking prosperously or if I’m thinking limited or negative, I can almost feel like my chest is heavy and I can feel I’m low in energy. So one thing I do and my friend Stefan taught me this sounds a little weird. Okay. I’m going to, I’m going to say that this sounds weird. I’ll take a deep breath. I’ll deep, I’ll breathe in as deep as I can. And then I deep in, I take another deep breath beyond that. Whereas to the point where it’s like, can my lungs really handle

[11:18] this and I’ll hold it and then I tap the top of my chest like that. Okay. Within 10 seconds, it’s like drinking 10 cups of coffee. It works. And all of a sudden now I’ve got this lightning flash in my brain. And then I turned to gratitude and I think, what am I grateful for? And immediately, okay, I’m ready. I can be a lot more prosperous because we’re all faced with decisions every single day. And I think that if we can come to those decisions with the sharpest, best mind possible, our outcomes are just unbelievable. So you’ve mentioned helping others, being of value to other people. And you talked about first, recognizing it. Second is doing. Now, what else is happening so that you’re operating from prosperity?

[12:17] I think just delving into work that I love. And so this is a lifelong message. Find work that you love, find a way to serve and make it happen. And if you don’t feel like you love your work right now, find a way to love aspects of it. You don’t have to love every part, but that aspect of love, and I mean, love from a divine sense, not a human sense is what enables that prosperity lens to just get wider and wider. And so there’s certainly something that is of joy in your day that you can do. And so go do that and expect the good results. Ooh, that’s so wonderful. The word prosperity is one that hasn’t been used or adopted widely in the vocabulary. And yes, we can read ancient scripture and we can see the

[13:11] word prosperous in there. And oftentimes, depending on who you’re reading and where you’re reading, there’s a, what they call a prosperous cycle, meaning people go through and they become blessed and things go well, and then they forget what happened and how they got there. And then hardship comes and then all of a sudden they go through the process to become prosperous again. Do you see the same thing happen in people’s lives as you’ve helped them out with finances and help them become more prosperous? I do. And I don’t think it’s necessary. So while common, yeah, it’s happened to me. Absolutely. But I don’t think it’s necessary. Joel Weldon is a national speaker association, you know, top ranked

[14:00] speaker and shares this message with literally thousands of people. And that is if things are going bad, let’s say you’re having a bad economy or whatever, choose not to participate. And so I believe that is an important choice to make in addition to adopting that prosperity lens to choose not to participate in the things that are not going so well. And you may remember all of 2020, like I wasn’t even going to use the C word. I was happy to use 2020, it’s a time in our lives. And then of course it turned into 2021. And I still don’t want to use the C word because I don’t want to give it any more power than it thinks it already has. And that’s an example of choosing not to participate. Ooh, I love it.

[14:49] That’s so true because too many people sit in the passenger seat. Whenever we have a problem or something we’re doing, we can be a driver or a passenger. So for you, prosperity in many ways means taking full responsibility. Yep. That own it attitude that I’m responsible for me and what I’m responsible for first is what goes on right in my head. And then as you brought up what I’m responsible for second is what goes on in my body and the breathing, the sitting up, the doing jumping jacks or whatever makes a big impact. I don’t think that can be overlooked. Okay. So I’m going to ask you one last curve ball question. So here’s some news for you listeners out here. And Kim hasn’t mentioned this because Kim and myself, we both like

[15:45] to live fairly private lives. I do personally. I’m not inviting everyone in on everything and posting on socials, but recently your sister Tammy became a grandma, which is an amazing event. It’s so cool. So if you haven’t already, let’s say you are going to write a note to the newborn and it will be read to the newborn. And this note is about prosperity. How would you sum it up and what advice would you give for the newborn? Oh gosh, to be read to the newborn now, that’s your guideline. To the newborn now. Yes. Yeah, that’s interesting because of course we have a letter to a grandchild that’s to be read when they’re in their teens, but I love your added element of to the newborn now. And I would almost do this as a prayer of affirmation for the good that

[16:48] baby is born into and will do in its life. Speaking of Tammy, my sister, she has a great quote that came off of a Chinese proverb that says, the day that you were born, a problem was solved. And so I would want to reinforce verbally all the amazing skills that God gave that baby and how cool it is that we have ways to even identify those skills, like the Colby profile and that kind of thing that can be done for a six month old baby and also just observing them and reading to them and proactively loving them at all stages of the game while verbally reinforcing the good that they can do, the capabilities that they have, the opportunities that they will pursue, the talents that they will bring to the table.

[17:42] Those are the things that I would speak of. That’s so good. You said one thing that was really unique. You said you would view that as a prayer. So for you, the prosperity that we’re talking about often on podcasts is so isolated, meaning people just talk about finances and then you get into a spiritual podcast and it’s just about the spiritual pieces. But what you’ve talked about is a way of living and it’s not just you because we said, Hey, Kim, what do you do when you get on, when you want to get unstuck and you went and you’re talking about serving others. So you’re doing God’s work for him. So that is prosperity for you listeners and for you, what I encourage is to find how you can be prosperous and would be wonderful

[18:40] if you want to share how you can become prosperous and what your definition is, send that in to us. Hello at ProsperityThinkers.com. It’s our desire to become prosperous. Kim, thank you for investing the time with us today. Thank you for establishing what prosperity is. This was awesome. Always a joy, Spencer. Thank you as well.
