[00:01] Welcome to the Prosperity Podcast. Prosperity thinkers, welcome to the podcast. This is our recalibration. So if you set New Year’s resolutions, goals, and things are on track, we applaud you. And if they’re not, we still applaud you because we’re going to have the recalibration. What does that mean to you, Kim? Well, it is such an awesome thing to do really at the end of every month, sometimes at the end of every week. And so calibrate, first of all, means, and we do this inside our currents structure, currents, C-U-R-R-E-N-C-E, where we have cash flow control. We calibrate three or four times a year. And then recalibrating, so I guess I didn’t explain calibrate. In my mind, calibrate monetarily is to take a look at the progress that you’ve made
[00:59] and then align that with what progress you want to make and do it in a very short time frame. And if we don’t first calibrate backwards, meaning look at the progress that we’ve made, then we’re likely to feel frustrated if we’re always looking at where we want to go in the next week, month, year, whatever. So calibration causes that backwards positive look at things that then builds the forward momentum. Recalibrating is necessary because life happens every single day, sometimes every single hour, and it’s very necessary to adjust the dials, if you will, as you go forward on all kinds of things. So maybe at the beginning of the year you set some health goals. I know mine this year right now and I prefer to use the term vision
[01:50] because goal to me has an end point and there’s a lot of risk at actually making a goal or not making it. If you make the goal, then setting the next one is so, so important, yet most people don’t. If you don’t make the goal, you can really cause yourself to be in the gap, to use that Dan Sullivan term, of being so frustrated that you can’t go forward because you didn’t make the goal. Neither of those are good spaces. So I like the term visioneer to have a vision or you can envision as a verb, E-N-V-I-S-O-N, of something that you want in the future. So like mine right now, I’m really working on eat less sugar and I know just even as that comes out of my mouth that we shouldn’t ever state visions as what we don’t want.
[02:36] In other words, I don’t want to eat sugar. We should state it as what we do want. So this is the favorite green drink of the day, right? Drink more green is how that should be stated. Kind of after the holidays. Well, yesterday what happens, right? Somebody brings us some kind of sweet that of course I eat more than I wish I had. So recalibrate, right? I think it’s so easy and interestingly enough this happened around noon. It would have been so easy last night to have a second helping. But recalibrate, right? As quickly as you can. Don’t wait till the end of the day, the end of the week, the end of the weekend, the end of the month, whatever it is, to recalibrate. Recalibrate now so that you can make that forward progress.
[03:22] So it is a good reminder when we hit the end of the weeks and the end of the months to take a look at the things that we are calibrating for and recalibrate if necessary. And one of the most helpful things that I can share in this space came from B.J. Fogg, our Tiny Habits friend, and that is to align something physical in proximity with whatever your vision is. So I have these little green drinks all over this house so that I run into them first instead of the bag of cookies, chips, you know, fill in the blank that I don’t want to be eating. I can very easily see. And then another example that’s fun from Kim’s life is I’m working on doing 50 pushups a day and I like to do it on an upturned boat
[04:19] that is on a dock on our lake that I pass every time I go to chores. Oh, you know she loves to do it. If she was speaking words, she would look up and say, Kim, we’re not moving one step further. She literally, this is Pepper Dog, the Great Dane, in case our listeners are not aware, she literally stops and turns her body sideways because she looks down the stairs at the dock, which is perpendicular to the dam that I walk across and stares at it and sometimes goes down, sometimes doesn’t. So that’s your Tiny Habit hint, is to put what it is that you want to have happen in close proximity, ideally even in the space of. So for example, every time I brush my teeth, I drink a bottle of water or whatever it is that you want to do
[05:15] is to have two tiny habits combined, one that you’re naturally going to do and one that you want to do so that you do them together. Oh, very good. I’m going to stack one that will be helpful for listeners and I hope it’s okay. I’m going to obligate a little something on you. So here it is. I’m always open. Cool. So for you listeners, if you have set your financial vision goals, however you want to put it for this year, maybe you said it last year and you are recalibrating, I’ve seen it happen to many people. Most people, they’ll either think too big and not have a clarity to get there and be a little too, maybe a little too nearsighted and not have dreamt big enough or thought through the mechanics.
[06:11] So my call to action is have a recalibration session with Kim. Hello at prosperity thinkers.com and I use the word session because that’s what a marksman and other people do. They recalibrate and then they go back out and they test. And those sessions, those meetings are critical. Have you seen it happen as well? Absolutely. And it’s a joy to do it this time of year because there is so much activity. People are preparing for taxes and getting all kinds of statements and that type of thing and clarity is so valuable and I am very grateful to be able to offer a lot of financial clarity for people, whether it’s about cash flow control or utilizing your whole life insurance policy that you bought and have completely forgotten about.
[06:59] It’s a space that within a very short 15 to 30 minute time we can get some clarity around, some vision around and some action around. I like that 15 to 30 minutes. That’s a recalibration. That’s not open heart surgery. That’s recalibration. That’s good. Listeners, thank you for taking the time and for being a part of the prosperity community. We get emails, we hear from people, we see the listeners throughout the world. It means a lot.
