[00:01] Welcome to the Prosperity Podcast. Prosperity Thinkers, the special 500th episode of the podcast. Isn’t that exciting, Kim? It’s amazing. I’m so grateful. I love it. You know, I wouldn’t have thought that we’d be at 500 episodes and see what we see right now. And I think the part that comes alive the most to me is that we have listeners that have had their kids grow up in the car listening to the podcast, and now they’re people that you’re working with. I mean, in some ways, the families have grown with us over the years, and it’s quite amazing. It really is. And to think that we, I really think, stumbled upon, you probably don’t see it this way, but I think I stumbled upon the podcast as a space, as something that works really well with my own natural talent
[01:04] and a way to communicate with our clients and people interested in becoming clients that I’ve been helping for over 30 years. And there really is just a real limit with writing. So I’ve got tons of written material, and that’s awesome, but not everybody is going to read written material, whether it’s blogs or any type of book or that type of thing. And it is just so awesome how the podcast capability came into play at about the time, you know, we’d fussed around with some audio things, but it just came together in such a perfect space to enable us to really love on our clientele in such an effective way that really, really served us and them. Yeah, absolutely. You know, if we look at that, we’re over half a decade of time doing that.
[02:03] That’s a lot of time to be able to put this in. Yes, it is amazing. It really is. And you’re right, you know, the technology has caught up. We were at a time before smart speakers. We’re at a time before podcasts were built into cars. And now that’s the case. And then we went through an era when a lot of people shifted from working in offices to working at home. And we went from a time where information felt like it was hard to get. And now we’re in a stage where that’s information overload. But we’ve continued to see people come in and grow. So for you, as the host of the podcast, tell us what are some of the takeaways that you have that maybe weren’t quite as obvious to our listeners? One of the first ones that somebody shared with me when podcasts first started to become a little bit more common
[03:04] was that podcasts were about positive forward motion and radio had become about negative historical commentary. That’s actually really profound. I thought so too. To have it so concise. Yes, yes. And who wants to be about negative, first of all? I mean, we can’t approach life with rose-colored glasses. But at the same time, we want to be looking for talking about the things that are positive in our lives. And that’s just the way that I have lived for a long, long time anyway. But to hear somebody make that distinction just made me so grateful because I had played around with, I think it was called Talk Radio, GoodTalkRadio.com. I don’t remember what it was. But it was a space that was all that was for a while.
[04:04] And now it’s so clear that the talking radio stuff is unfortunately horribly negative. And that’s just not something I want in my life. Yeah, absolutely. You know, I’ll give a takeaway from me as a co-host and as a person that owns like a podcast network, which is the barrier to entry has been greatly reduced. And on top of that, the gatekeepers have been pushed out of the way. So as you mentioned, radio in the past, a person could pay to have a talk radio spot or maybe they could be invited onto a well-known show. But there was a certain narrative that was forced, meaning you couldn’t veer off of the path. And it had to be polished. And you had to be almost secondarily saying, here’s a sales pitch or something I want you to do.
[05:04] Whereas what we’re doing here is we’re decentralizing it. We’re saying, OK, we’re direct from us to you. Yes. And it’s all about give first. Because while it’s very obvious to most of our listeners how prosperity thinkers, our company, makes money with helping people buy life insurance, there is so much around the personal finance space that is ancillary to that, yet unbelievably impactful. And so it enables you and I to have a conversation that suits both of our skills well, which we’re the kind of people like turn the microphone on and we just start talking that lets it be authentic and real and current and giving. And what a better way for our clients to learn about all those ancillary aspects of personal finance.
[06:04] In addition to the life insurance and the current structure that we are providing for cash flow control right now, and the other things like our prosperity pledge that generate revenue, this is generating goodwill. Absolutely. You know, you said something that was actually years ago that was extremely profound, and it ties in with your transparency, which is you just mentioned how as a company you’re helping people and you’re using life insurance and you’re using these sound principles that have been around for a long time. And you said one of the ahas about the podcast is that when a client is ready to come on, they’ve already been educated and the process from start to actually implementing is greatly reduced and the relationships deeper.
[07:02] So tell us about that. Like, how has the friction been reduced for you? Well, I think it has to do with the human voice and in this case, the separation from the voice and video because I’ve done YouTube work and I didn’t ever get a comment from a client. I feel like I know you because of your YouTube channel, but I get comments often. I feel like I know you because of your podcasts. So even though we include a clip of the podcast and we record with cameras now, which we didn’t used to do, of course, and there’s little bits and pieces of the camera activity out there, there’s just something about the human voice that enables transparency, that enables that relationship to be developed and built over time, sometimes faster, sometimes slower.
[08:01] Sometimes people are on our podcast for two or three years before they reach out to me and are ready to take a step. And that is so amazing because by that time, as you stated, they have gotten lots of education. They’ve gotten lots of gifts from us in terms of information and action steps. And as we talk on a very wide scale, skirting all of the issues, not just personal finance, but living, because that’s part of the fun thing to talk about, it enables that connection to be made and it becomes about a relationship and not a transaction at that point. Yeah, you’re really so accurate. It’s not a transaction. It is that relationship. So first, as we do on this podcast often, we express a level of gratitude.
[08:52] You’ve taught me over the years the importance of gratitude, and that can be when things are going great, pretty easy to forget to be grateful. And then when things are wrong or things are difficult or whatever word you want to use, like it can be difficult to have gratitude as well. So that is one lesson that you’ve taught me over the years, that gratitude is so closely tied to prosperity. Well, thank you. It is something that I’ve learned and keep learning, right? Because it is something that truly is a daily effort, sometimes minute by minute, depending on what’s going on. And it’s something that I love to share because I think people are very open to it. Most of them would say, yeah, I kind of knew that.
[09:46] But I think having somebody say it in a concrete fashion of not only is gratitude important, but here are some examples of initiating gratitude in a proactive way in your life on a daily basis. Frankly, we can’t get enough of that kind of information, suggestions and encouragement and optimism, etc. And I’ve always been so grateful to have you as a co-host in the conversation, because first of all, it’s a lot more fun to have two people talk about it. And think about this, Spencer. I don’t know how many podcasts stay the course with just the main host or co-host. So many of them turn to guests. And I love that. You know, there’s lots of value in that. And we’ve certainly had occasional guests.
[10:41] And we definitely post some occasional bonus episodes of either podcasts I’m on as a guest or other things. But I think it’s amazing that you and I, as the co-host of the Prosperity podcast, have stayed that way and have kept it that way so that it can truly be that relationship and that connection to our listeners. Yeah, so very true. You know, maybe in 100 years we’ll run out of content. But until then, I don’t think it’s going to happen. I would love to hear your vision, your thoughts of what Prosperity Thinkers looks like and what you see of the podcast. Well, I really absolutely at 55 or 6 years old, I forget, I believe that I will be actively engaged for another 30 years. I know numerically and financially that 87 is the new 65.
[11:42] And we absolutely want to keep working until then and working and serving. And part of my purpose is to activate lifelong service, not only in myself but in everybody that I talk to because it prevents wasted lives. So in that act of service, which I believe that the podcast is, I want to continue to provide value to our listeners. I love answering questions that come in. It’s fun to answer actual literal questions. It’s also fun to answer questions that I know that I’ve had in meetings with people that week. The early years of the podcast, we did a lot of life insurance commentary. The next year, like literally 2023, we’ll probably do a lot of commentary around Currents, which is our new cash flow control app plus account that is making a big difference for people
[12:40] in helping them save first or pay themselves first. And we have so much fun around all of the other ancillary financial commentary, like mortgages maybe or 401k plans or whatever it is. And so that will continue to be a part of our conversation. And as we know, we will go through ebbs and flows in the economy. And I think it’s very, very important to continue to maintain a prosperity lens through challenges in our economy. So I’m sure we’ll end up talking about that. And you come up with fabulous things for us to chat about, you know, some Twitter feed and, oh, let’s get Kim’s opinion on this, which I adore those conversations as well. And I know we’ll continue to have that. You know, I didn’t really set out to write a book a year, but it’s kind of gotten onto that pace.
[13:35] And of course, you’re doing some book writing. So the book material is something that we’ll be constantly talking about. I already know what my next book is. So there’s endless amounts of things that we can converse about. And both of us very, very young at heart individuals that love helping the next generation of kids coming up and then young adults coming up. Those are some of my favorite clients. And it’s an absolute joy to be able to talk about the perpetual wealth ideas between generations. So got client families where we’re dealing with the grandparents, the parents, as well as adult children and their children. So for generations, I think I’ll stop now. That’s what I see the future.
[14:25] That’s a great future. It really is. I’d like to have a call to action with a lot of the episodes. And the reason why I do that for listeners is because it’s one thing to observe and it’s one thing to take something in. But it’s another thing to take action. And it doesn’t mean that the action that we take has to be a Mount Everest type of thing. It can be something small. And so the action that I would suggest today is to send an email to hello at ProsperityThinkers.com and ask a question of something that you’ve been wanting to know. And if you don’t have a question, if you’re still not sure what that would be, then send an email of gratitude or congratulations on the 500 and you’ll get a personalized response.
[15:21] And to me, that’s a call to action of saying, hey, welcome in. You know, if we haven’t heard from you before, we would love to hear from you. And we care enough that you’re going to get a reply. That’s a good call to action, I think, on a 500th episode. Kim, do you go for that as well? I love that. And I truly do reply to every email. So if you don’t get a reply, something went haywire. And I actually love email. I know a lot of entrepreneurs have chosen not to spend time on email, but I find it a very effective communication tool as long as it’s combined with verbal interaction, which is what the podcast is. So as you stated, there’s a lot of listeners on our podcast that we have not interacted with.
[16:11] And I would love to add the email interaction. And then at some point, maybe there will be an actual meeting, and that’s fine as well. But the voice plus email can honestly solve a lot of financial questions that people have. And that’s what I love to do. Excellent. OK, listeners, you got it. Send the email to hello at ProsperityThinkers.com. Kim, congratulations. Thank you for the 500th episode. Listeners, thank you for the 500th episode. I look at the stats. I get to hear comments from Kim. And that’s what gets me so excited to do this and be a part of your life every week. So thank you. And thank you, Spencer, for this 500th episode.
